Written by former BMAP ecologist Cindy Becker and board member Carroll Schaal, Reading the Driftless is a 60-page book that gives landowners an overview of the natural and human history of the region. Published in 2013, Reading the Driftless helps readers make the connection between that history and their own property by including materials and resources for recording observations about their property.

The book explains how to use those observations along with the landowner's personal goals to create a simple management plan of next steps. The book has been "field tested" in several landowner workshops and has been enthusiastically received by participants.
